Get Hampshire Walking

We are supporting the Get Hampshire Walking campaign.  We are spreading the word about the benefits of walking to help patients lead healthier and more active lives.

It is not difficult - a few extra steps, using the stairs and not the lift, getting off the bus a stop early will all help.

Walking can also help you get out more, meet new people and improve your social life.

Eastleigh Borough Council brings you Your Park

Your Park is a new physical activity programme for adults (16+ years) and families, delivered as part of Eastleigh Borough Council’s SportWorks initiative.

Running from 30 July to 26 August, the programme will offer a variety of low cost activities in the Borough’s parks and open spaces. Activities include Canoeing, Tai Chi, Cardio Tennis, Family Yoga, Pilates, Park Fit and even Jog with your Dog plus lots more.

Delivered by qualified and friendly instructors, all activities are suitable for beginners and those who are ‘inactive’ / doing very little exercise or physical activity.

Thanks to funding from Sport England, activities cost just £3 booking fee per person for adults and £5 booking fee for family sessions.

Bookings go live Tuesday 19 June 2018 at www.eastleigh.gov.uk/YourPark

Health Walks

Regular walking can help prevent Heart disease, Obesity, High Blood Pressure, Osteoporosis and Diabetes.

The walks take about 1 hour and and are a great way to  socialise and get some exercise. Everyone is welcome. The walks are led by a qualified Volunteer Walk Leader and take place rain or shine! Most of our walks offer 2 routes, one covering 3 miles in the hour and the other covering approximately 2 miles in the hour. The latter aimed at new walkers and those recovering from illness.

Our scheme now has over 14,000 walkers attending per year.

We vary our walks from each destination.

If you can spare some time and enjoy walking then please give us a call as we would love to hear from you. It does not have to be a commitment every week, just whenever you can is helpful!
